Adam Lambert is our “Hollywood Celebrity of the Year”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Forget about winning “American Idol.” The show’s runners-up often have better careers.

For every winner like Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson, there is a major talent in the pop show’s No. 2 slot who goes on to meet – or surpass – the singer who beat them out. We’re talking about runners-up like Clay Aiken, Katharine McPhee and, of course, our “Hollywood Celebrity of the Year” … Adam Lambert.

Lambert was destined for fame. He just happened to find it in 2010. Sure, his debut album, “For Your Entertainment,” hit streets late in 2009.

But it was his worldwide “Glam Nation Tour” and consistent airplay for singles like “Whataya Want From Me,” “If I Had You” and the album’s title track that kept Lambert on our radars all year.

And it’s his immeasurable talent (and undeniable flair) that should keep him front and center as 2011 roars in. Lambert’s musicianship has made him a pop-culture sensation. His album peaked at No. 3 on U.S. Billboard 200 while climbing international ranks. We can’t wait to hear his follow up. Until then, Adam Lambert will have to be content being our “Hollywood Celebrity of the Year.” Congratulations!

Thank you ! Adam deserves this as well as the other forms of recognition being bestowed upon him after a year of hard work and dedication to his craft.

So happy I could cry. Adam is racking up a ton of awards–each one so deserved. Adam is an extraordinary talent who is no doubt trying to saying grounded with all the awards and honors he has already won in the past few weeks. But he has to be amazed by all the love that’s coming his way. He really has no idea how deep our devotion is. Adam, you’re a gift we so appreciate.

Adam, you deserve this award. It has been so much fun this year seeing you in concert 2 times (affordable venues, bless you) and while I feel that you are worth xxtimes the amount I paid, well, God loved me enough in 2010 to allow me to see you live twice. It has been the thrill of a 52 year life span——keep it going! PS. If your tickets go up, my universal energy will find a way to help me pay for a ticket! Please continue to thrill—-although I have no doubt you will……

Thank you for recognizing Adam’s hard work and wonderful talent. 2010 has been the best year of my life, all because of Adam Lambert’s positive, humble attitude and gracious way of handling himself. He not only is the best Live vocalist I have ever heard, but he mesmerizes you with his presence and beauty along will his voice. With 20 concerts under my belt, I’m looking forward to what Adam has in store for us in 2011. I’m sure it will be fantastic and his fan base will continue to grow with wonderful, passionate fans who will always be there to support his every venture. He works hard and deserves all the success in the world.

Adam has had a good year, and so have his fans. One of the most notable highlights of 2010 is his first Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, in the company of his fellow nominees, Michael Jackson, John Mayer, Bruno Mars, and Michael Buble. It is odd that mention of this current information and association is omitted from the article, opting instead for associations with his past Idol experience.

I’m not sure what this recognition means, but thank you for honoring Mr. Lambert in this way. His talent is beyond belief. He could just stand there and sing, but he’s also a great entertainer bringing his personality to his music and performances. I can think of no one even close to him in overall talent. Looking forward to all the music in 2011.

thanks for making Adam your Hollywood Celebrity of the Year. He deserves it based on true talent ..hard work..and those amazing pipes!

Thank you, Thank You, Thank you…Its time for the amazing Adam Lambert to get all the recognition he deserves, I hope the American Idol runner up label is now dropped all together. AI was a platform for Adam to get the exposure he needed, he was obviously born (or decended as a gift to the world from music heaven!) with the talents he possesses, not only his singing ability, but with that charisma he shows us continually. My hope is that he gets that Grammy, but if that does not occur, I know he will handle that with the absolute grace he has always shown. (If Adam does not win, I am hoping for a win by Michael Buble-my other fav.) Anyway, Adam you are phenomenal…thank you for the hours of pure joy you have given over the past two years-looking forward to what is coming for you in this brand new year.

Thank you for that honor for ADAM. It is certainly well deserved. Last year (2009) ADAM received the Young Hollywood Award … this year (2010) Hollywood Celebrity of the Year. Two years in a row ADAM has been recognized for the AMAZING Entertainer he is. I couldn’t be PROUDER if he were my very own grandson …. but I am a very PROUD Glambert … and will be for as long as I LIVE!! ADAM is loved & recognized WORLDWIDE … and ADAM alone is responsible for that …. he introduced himself to the World & they WELCOMED him with Open Arms!! CONGRATULATIONS!! ADAM!!

Nicely written article, Adam has struggled and worked hard for years, fame didn’t fall in his lap. He’s earned the recognition, his vocals are out of this world. His E.P. is amazing, you can hear and feel the quality of his voice. We’ve been waiting too long for a talent and performer like Adam, he’s finally arrived, a breath of fresh air.

  • January 1, 2011 | Permalink |

there is no one more deserving of this award. Adam is with no doubt the most exciting, interesting and musically talented celebrity to hit the industry in over 40 years. Elvis was the last person to have this kind of impact. he too had to overcome obstacles that only slowed him down. adam is too rare and unique of a talent to be denied stardom.

    thanks so much

Nice article, but Adam Lambert’s album debuted at number 3 on the BB charts. Thanks for recognizing this once in a generation talent.

Adam Lambert so richly deserves all the praise he is finally getting from the broader community. He is not only an extraordinarily talented performer and singer, but he is a truly beautiful person both inside and out. His openness & honesty is so refreshing that I think it’s actually inspiring others, both in & out of the closet, to follow suit.. However, those are only a few of the many personality traits that I find so endearing about Adam. He is very loving and, unselfish, genuinely caring towards others, very, intelligent, wildly humourous, and insightful beyond belief. On top of all that he is also seXXXy as hell. I sincerely believe that Adam will be an ICON long after we all are gone and buried. He is truly a one in a lifetime artist, and I am so happy that I am here to witness his greatness in person. I have seen him perform “LIVE” three times now and they were the 3 greatest experiences of my life, and I have experienced lots of great things. ROCK ON ADAM!

Wow. The fan outpouring for Adam only solidified that we made the right choice. And thank you, all, for catching my typo. His chart position has been corrected. Thanks, everyone, for reading and we’ll see you in 2011!

  • January 1, 2011 | Permalink |

Thank you! Adam totally deserves this and any reward he receives. I have not seen such a talented singer in many years. He not only has the voice of an angel but he is one of the nicest people, very down to earth and kind. I have yet to hear anyone say one negative thing about him after meeting him and talking to him. I love his first album and look forward to his next and the ones after that. His tour was amazing, my entire family loved it and we will go again next year and the year after that. I have not been this excited about a singer in such a long time, it feels great! Adam Lambert is a rare gem. Let’s treasure him.

Adam owes his every success this year to raw talent supported by plain old hard work. I have such respect for the way he took the AI fame under his belt and then knuckled down to produce a fabulous album, set out on a grueling promotional tour and then followed that up with a brilliant world concert whirlwind that gave his global fan base the chance to make a personal connection with him. I think most of us have now have a photo, signed CD, photo or some personal memento. The sheer number of individual fans to whom he gave his time is staggering. We attended his concert in Sydney and it was a BLAST! Fun, energy and that superb voice. The costumes, dancers and light show were just icing on the cake. You only have to take a trip through YouTube to see that Adam delivered that same level of dedication, energy and individual spirit at every appearance around the world.

Congratulations Adam! All your laurels and achievements are well deserved and long overdue.

McPhee is a bad example. She has sold only about half the albums that Taylor Hicks did. Pretty much all that season outsold McPhee.

  • January 3, 2011 | Permalink |

Yes this man is gorgeous, talented, highly charismatic, and wow – what a voice!!

  • January 4, 2011 | Permalink |

What can you say that has not been said above. Adam is simply amazing in every way, first an foremost, his talent. but also he is loved for his personality , his grace, his giving nature and attitude towards fans and how he seems to find the time to respond to us through twitter, responding to fan mail, etc. I just got his Acoustic CD, and it is absolutely gorgous, showcases that voice we have all grown to love, listening to “Aftermath” and “Soaked” gives me the chills, but in a good way. Thank you Mr Lambert, and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in 2011-know it will be beyond belief fantastic, or should I say glamtastic!

I’m a 61 year old woman, heterosexual, don’t like to use the term straight, what is straight anyway? The moment I saw Adam on American Idol, I thought WOW!! finally we have found an exciting, charismatic, gracious awesomely talented performer with the most amazing pipes and vocals in about at least 30 years, and talk about sex appeal, he has oodles of it, ( who cares if he’s gay) he’s hot. O.K. so called straight guys, are you listening? This is what’s sexy, Adam is, without even trying, get it! I’m no spring chicken, but I can bet any female, no matter what age would tell you the same.
