Angelina Jolie named our “Hollywood Female Movie Star of the Year”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: As 2010 draws to a close, we here at HollywoodNews.com want to recognize the enormous talents who entertained the masses by going above and beyond in the fields of film, television and the arts. It was a banner year for multiple artists, but these people stood out to us for assorted reasons.

Angelina Jolie, for instance, showed tremendous range on screen. She returned to her action roots for the summer thriller “Salt.” She then stepped into the glamorous “Movie Star” mold to act alongside Johnny Depp in December’s “The Tourist” – a move that earned the actress her sixth Golden Globe nomination.

But it’s Jolie’s work behind the camera that has us looking forward to 2011, when we’ll get our first look at the A-lister’s feature-film directorial debut. A love story set in war-torn Serbia, Jolie’s film faced resistance on personal and political levels, but the actress – steadfast in her beliefs and confident in her material – fought back and prevailed, winning the right to tell the story she wants to tell. We’re anxious to see the film when it is released.

Until then, it is our pleasure to recognize Angelina Jolie for the work she has done in 2010 both on and off the screen by naming her our “Hollywood Female Movie Star of the Year.”

Excellent choice and a worthy recipient. Angelina is a versatile actress and appears to be willing to take chances in the roles she accepts. I am amazed at how she balances work, family and her humanitarian work. I for one am also looking forward to her directorial debut. You go girl!
