“Jurassic Park” rumors turn out to be just that … rumors

By Sean O’Connell The rumor spread like wildfire over the weekend: Universal’s plans for a fourth “Jurassic Park” film were being fast-tracked, due in part to scribblings on a “Daily Shooting Schedule” on the studio lot.

It turns out it’s only that: rumor.

ComingSoon followed up with Universal about a fourth “Park” and is reporting that “there is no truth to this.”

For whatever reason, “Jurassic Park 4” has become one of those hot titles that surfaces whenever the news cycle slows. There have been ideas tossed around, scripts started and abandoned, directors attached and stars rumored. Not nothing ever comes to pass on “Park,” and we’re not sure it ever will.

The last “Jurassic” film, which came out in 2001, earned more than $365 million worldwide, so it’s understandable why Universal would like to send more Hollywood stars into the dinosaur pit. But for now, it isn’t happening any time soon.
