Tyler Perry leads pack for NAACP Image Award noms

By Sean O’Connell This year, the “P” in the NAACP Image Awards stands for “Perry,” as in Tyler Perry.

The director was showered with love by the MAACP as the group announced its annual Image Award nominees. Perry was recognized for both “Why Did I Get Married Too?” and “For Colored Girls.” Both received Best Film nods. Several of Perry’s actors found their way into the NAACP’s acting categories. And Perry nabbed screenplay and directing nods, as well.

In all, Perry claimed 19 nominations for the 42nd annual awards.

The NAACP Image Awards will air on March 4, at 8 p.m. ET, on FOX.
