Adam Lambert trades birthday gifts for clean water for those in need

HollywoodNews.com: Adam Lambert has already given his congratulations to “Glee’s” Chris Colfer for his big night at the Golden Globes and now the singer is using his celebrity status to help those in need.

Instead of requesting birthday gifts for his big day, he has decided to ask his fans to donate to a charity instead. Lambert has just announced his partnership with charity:water with the goal of raising $29,000 for the organization, reports Looktothestars.org.

He said, “I am so excited to be a part of charity:water and able to give back to those in need. Join me in helping with donations for such a great cause. My ‘golden birthday’ is on Jan 29th where I will be turning 29!!!! I would LOVE if you would help me donate to this cause as it would be the best birthday gift I could ask for.”

Since his participation, fans have donated over $60,000 in just two days, prompting him to raise his goal to raise $290,000 by January 29th.

Good going, Adam! He can afford all the bling he wants, while millions of people go without the basics. It makes sense.

Adam is a very humble and caring man…He has done a ton for Donors Choose over the last two years…so this does not shock me at all….

Great article on Adam. Adam has always given to charity.org, even when he first started out. I purchased his pendant, which money when to chairty.org. There are many other persons out there that can afford the bling, such as Get Real refers too, but don’t participate. This is just the way Adam is. That is why so many persons love him. He has great music and nothing but love in his heart. We need more people like him.

Even when Adam was just starting out, living on a bus traveling with the AI Tour, he asked his fans not to give him presents, which they love to do, and support donorschoose.org. Two years and $500,000 later, he is doing it again with charity:water. He knows that his fans love him and follow his lead, so in less than 6 hours on Saturday night, the request for $29,000 for his 29th birthday on 1/29 brought $31,000. It is now at $70,000 and Adam is goading us to see if we can get to $290,000. I’m not sure if we can, but whatever we do, it will be for a great cause and in the name of a great entertainer and human being.
Adam has taught us to be citizens of the world and try to make it a better place, one person at a time. THAT, my friends, is what you do with your celebrity when you are Adam Lambert.

The best thing about these charities that ADAM is partnered with is …. this can be a ONE time donation or if you choose to … you can make it an ongoing donation whenever you feel you can afford to make another donation. ADAM’s charities are so worthwhile … it’s as if ADAM knows INSTINCTIVELY which ones are the most needy. LOVE you ADAM!! Happy GOLDEN Birthday MY Idol with the GOLDEN Voice!!!
