Anne Hathaway to torment Batman in Nolan’s “Dark Knight Rises”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: We were just writing about Anne Hathaway’s high-profile gigs, reporting on the story that the “Love and Other Drugs” star was jumping from an Oscar co-hosting gig to a guest spot on “Glee.”

But roles don’t get much bigger than this.

Warner Bros. is stating that Hathaway, an Oscar nominee for the outstanding “Rachel Getting Married,” will play Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.”

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” Nolan said in a statement (via HitFix).

In making the announcement, the studio also confirmed that “Inception” star Tom Hardy would be playing a villain, but it is not Killer Croc, as rumored. Instead, he will play Bane.

“I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies,” Nolan added.

So much for those reports on Talia Al Ghul.

So what do you think? Catwoman and Bane for Nolan’s third (and likely final) Batman movie. Weigh in below.

“The Dark Knight Rises” opens nationwide on July 22, 2012.
