Oscars: “The King’s Speech” gets loud, vocal support from Academy members

Hollywoodnews.com: Tom Hooper’s “The King’s Speech” leads this year’s pack of Oscar contenders with 12 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, and three acting nominations for Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.

“True Grit” came in second place in the nominations race, earning 10 nods includi9ng a surprise nomination for Joel and Ethan Coen in the Best Director category (where many pundits had penciled in Christopher Nolan for “Inception”).

The remaining Best Picture slots are occupied by “Black Swan,” “The Fighter,” “Inception,” “The Kids Are All Right,” “127 Hours,” “The Social Network,” “Toy Story 3,”and “Winter’s Bone.”
