Naomi Watts boards Clint Eastwood’s Hoover biopic

By Sean O’Connell Clint Eastwood’s planned J. Edgar Hoover biopic, titled “J. Edgar,” has acquired another Oscar nominee.

Naomi Watts has agreed to play Hoover’s personal secretary, Helen Gandy, in the film, Variety reports. It was Gandy who destroyed most of Hoover’s confidential files after he passed away in 1972, allegedly wiping away secrets the former FBI director had collected on some of the country’s most powerful men.

Watts joins an already star-studded cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Armie Hammer, Josh Lucas and Dame Judi Dench.

Eastwood reportedly wants “J. Edgar” in theaters sometime in 2012.
