Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund in first “On the Road” photos

Hollywoodnews.com: The first images from Walter Salles’ adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” have made their way online, courtesy of the French Web site Comme au Cinema.

The pics show of Salles’ cast in period garb, including Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty and Marylou. The third actor, Sam Riley, plays Sal Paradise, who was Kerouac’s fictional alter-ego in the novel.

Published in 1957, “Road” was an autobiographical work inspired by Kerouac’s assorted road trips across America that later was recognized as the defining work of the Beat Generation of poets and musicians.

The film, however, still doesn’t have a release date, though it’s expected that Icon Film will get it into theaters later this year.
