“Sherlock Holmes” secret cameo confirmed by studio

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: The cat has been let out of the bag regarding a spoilerish cameo for the new “Sherlock Holmes” sequel, which Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law currently are filming with director Guy Ritchie. So if you’d like to avoid knowing who appears in the film, stop reading now.

I mean it, stop.

OK, Warner Bros. was forced to confirm that original “Sherlock” love interest Rachel McAdams will return for the sequel. The actress was captured in on-set footage that leaked across the Internet, so the studio had to respond.

She’s not the lead actress anymore. “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” star Noomi Rapace has a substantial role in “Holmes 2,” as does “Mad Men” star Jared Harris, who’ll play Professor Moriarty, Sherlock’s chief nemesis.

So there you have it. McAdams indeed will show up for a cameo when the as-yet-untitled film reaches theaters in December.
