Christina Aguilera defends National Anthem blunder

HollywoodNews.com: After seriously fumbling the lyrics to the National Anthem at the opening of the XLV Super Bowl on Sunday, Christina Aguilera was quick to defend her mistake, which unfortunately was witnessed by millions of viewers during the nationwide broadcast.

According to the Wall Street Journal blog Speakeasy, Aguilera’s publicist released the following statement from the pop star shortly after her performance: “I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”

Although it was a heartfelt rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Aguilera perhaps put too much of her own twist on the distinguished anthem. Her performance has faced relentless criticism by numerous blogs and Twitter users.
