Elton John wants to get through to Rush Limbaugh

By Greg Hernandez

HollywoodNews.com: Elton John’s remarks about Billy Joel being an alcoholic in need of some tough rehab made most of the headlines last week when it came to excerpts from his new ‘Rolling Stone’ interview.

But also newsworthy is what the music legend had to say about conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh.

Remember last summer when Elton caused all kinds of raised eyebrows (including mine!) when he agreed to perform at Limbaugh’s latest wedding.

“‘I could not believe when I was asked to play,’ Elton tells ‘Rolling Stone.’ ‘I thought it was a joke. I had dialogue with him before and he said, ‘I’m not anti-gay, I want you to come, bring David.’ My goal is for Rush to say, ‘I support civil partnerships,’ and if I rang him right now, I think he might agree. He was one of the first people to congratulate us on the baby.’”
