Hollywood’s Philantropic Community to be Honored by Leeza Gibbons
HollywoodNews.com: Leeza Gibbons and David Foster have teamed up to present Dare2Care, an event taking place Thursday, February 24, 2011 at BOA on Sunset. The pre-Oscars cocktail bash and “party with a purpose” aims to raise funds to benefit the Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation and its signature program, Leeza’s Place. The evening will be hosted by Gibbons and Foster is backed by a host committee including the likes of Betty White, Cookie & Magic Johnson, Hugh Jackman, Maria Shriver with the event production by Chad Hudson Events. The program will feature musical performances by Grammy Award winning artist LeAnn Rimes, musical prodigy David Foster, singer/songwriter Chantelle Delaney.
Dare2Care will honor an assortment of individuals for their outstanding accomplishments in the world of philanthropy. Jamie Lee Curtis will be given the Caring Heart Award for continually championing important causes and lifting others through her example. Hill Harper will receive the Empower Award for utilizing his celebrity to provide opportunities for the next generation by way of mentorship and scholarships. Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles will be granted the Leadership Award for 157 years of helping families suffering from debilitating circumstances like hunger and domestic violence.
Leeza’s event isn’t just about giving back; it’s also about making dreams come true. One lucky senior citizen will have her dreams come true when she is invited to dance by one of the “Dancing with the Stars” professional dancers, a life goal for this deserving woman. The duo will dance to the music of an aspiring musician whose dream it is to have her demo heard by industry bigwigs. With David Foster and the Hollywood A-list in the crowd to listen to her song, it is sure to be a moment not soon forgotten.
Leeza recently partnered with EXTRA to put the word out about her search for Courageous Caregivers – those selfless souls who never fail to offer the best they have to help someone else. Leeza is looking for those heroes who show perseverance and optimism even when there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel and whose dedication really makes a difference. Nominations for Courageous Caregivers can be submitted to www.dare2carenow.org in 500 words or less explaining why they deserve a Medal for the way they “dare to care” at the awards ceremony.
Sponsors for the event, including Variety, EXTRA, Patron, Absolut Vodka, Brookdale Senior Living, Sheer Cover, Tina & Rick Caruso, Cheryl & Haim Saban, David Bohnett & Tom Gregory, will make generous donations contributing to the success of the event.
