“Tron” and its sequel coming to DVD and Blu-ray in April

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Disney announced an April 5 release date for the DVDs of both “Tron” and its recent, long-in-the-making sequel, “Tron: Legacy.”

EW.com reports that the “Tron” release will mark “the first time [the film] will be seen in stores since the 20th anniversary collector’s edition was released in 2002.”

While the general release date of “Tron: Legacy” was known, Disney revealed specifications for the sequel’s DVD and Blu-ray editions. Examiner, which has images of the DVD cover art, says there will be a DVD single disc; the DVD and Blu-ray combo pack (on two discs); a 3D Blu-ray collection (spread over four discs); a 3D Combo Special Edition Pack (which will include the original “Tron”); and the Ultimate Tron Experience, which offers consumers the same package as 3D Combo Special Edition, but comes in “an illuminatin disc package and includes a lithograph.”

Special.

So April 5 will be a big day for “Tron” enthusiasts, as well as people who’ve invested in 3D television sets.
