Justin Bieber, Adam Sandler neck-and-neck at Friday box office

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Justin Bieber and Adam Sandler appear to be the cure for what has been ailing the domestic box office all year.

Early estimates say Bieber’s 3D motion picture “Never Say Never” pulled in “as much as $12 million” on Friday night, according to THR. Sandler’s “Just Go With It,” with Jennifer Aniston and Brooklyn Decker, was hot on its heels with an estimated $10 million in Friday grosses.

It will be interesting to see if Valentine’s celebrating grown ups turn out on Saturday and Sunday to throw support in Sandler and Aniston’s corner, or if Bieber will continue to lure in teenagers and their parents to prevail at the weekend box.

Either way, it looks like both films will enjoy healthy openings, and the domestic box office will receive that financial boost it has been waiting for since 2011 got underway.
