Lindsay Lohan’s allegedly stolen necklace may be way cheaper

HollywoodNews.com: It is currently being rumored that the necklace in the center of Lindsay Lohan’s felony grand theft case may not have cost as much as the jeweler priced it at.

Other jewelers have reportedly commented on the price tag and many believe it is far less than $2,500 which could affect the whole felony part of the case, states TMZ. For the matter to be a felony, the item must have a fair market value of more than $950.

Three other jewelers in the Los Angeles area have reportedly priced the necklace at $1,000, $900 and $800. If the necklace does price at less than $950, then Lindsay is only looking at a misdemeanor which would come with far less jail time.

Interesting way to discredit in the public’s eyes the jeweler who pressed charges. What are they trying to do, ruin the jeweler’s business for daring to make LL accountable?

California state law says anything over the value of 400 dollars stolen is a felony, so if something is stolen at a 950 dollar price tag it is still considered grand theft. Did she commit this crime in California?
