Batman rumor of the day: Marion Cotillard as Talia al Ghul

Hollywoodnews.com: Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” officially is becoming overcrowded.

Reps for Marion Cotillard have revealed today that the actress, who worked with Nolan on “Inception,” is “in discussions” to join the director’s third Batman film, but that nothing has been confirmed at this point. THR reports that the pregnant Cotillard “is discussing scheduling issues,” due to the fact that she’s delivering her baby in the spring.

“The plan is for Cotillard to start shooting mid-June in London, film all summer in L.A. and Pittsburgh and wrap mid-November in New York,” THR writes.

But who would she play? Several Nolan enthusiasts speculated on social media outlets that Cotillard – because she’s one of Nolan’s “players” – would make a fine Catwoman, but that part belongs to Anne Hathaway. The French actress likely will play Christian Bale’s love interest in the film, and we’ve seen countless names bandied about for that coveted part.

And then there’s the theory that the other female role in “Rises” could be Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of the villain played by Liam Neeson in Nolan’s “Batman Begins.”

It’s all speculation at this point. But Cotillard appears ready to “Rise” with Nolan and crew when they get back in the Batman groove this summer.
