Oprah Winfrey’s Michael Vick interview squashed by Eagles?

By Sean O’Connell

Hollywoodnews.com: Oprah Winfrey has had a number of amazing guests during her talk show’s final season, but one great “get” backed away.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick cancelled an appearance that was supposed to be taped today and aired next week. Initially, it was believed that Vick pulled the plug on his Oprah pow-wow, saying in a statement that he decided to postpone after “careful consideration.”

However, FOX-29 in Philadelphia is floating the notion that it might have been team officials who nixed Vick’s spot, saying that he team “voiced objections.”

There’s a lot of focus on Vick in the offseason. He played well on the field, and appears to have made progress off the field. The athlete served his prison time for the crimes he committed, but football enthusiasts want to see if he can keep his proverbial nose clean now that football is on hiatus. Opening up to Oprah could have been a double-edged sword. In my opinion, Vick’s best served by staying quiet and out of the limelight, and it appears the Eagles agree.

We’ll see if Oprah will get her way and muscle a sit-down with Vick in the near future.
