Pixar not ready to say goodbye to “Toy Story” yet

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Not ready to say goodbye to Buzz, Woody and the “Toy Story” crew? Well, neither are the animators at Pixar.

The creative geniuses recently revealed plans to attach new “Toy Story” themed shorts to “Cars 2” and the upcoming “Muppets” feature.

And sequels and spinoffs continue to be the word coming out of the studio (a troubling sign given Pixar’s push for originality in its earliest days). The Playlist, in reporting on the “Toy Story” shorts, notes that a “Cars” spinoff – “Planes” – will be going straight-to-video and DVD in 2013.

This in addition to the fact that Pixar has “Monsters Inc. 2” on the schedule for 2012, and it appears we won’t have too many fresh Pixar flicks in the pipeline outside of 2012’s “Brave,” with the voice of Reese Witherspoon and Emma Thompson.
