Natalie Portman Best Actress nod may be the only real “Black Swan” Oscar contender

Natalie Portman Black Swan

By Kim Palacios

hollywoodnews.com: Despite multiple nominations in some of the film world’s most distinguished awards, the only category in which “Black Swan” has seen consistent wins is Best Actress. From giants such as The Golden Globes to BAFTA to smaller societies such as the Las Vegas Film Critics Society and the Chicago Film Critics Association, most nominations apart from Natalie Portman’s Best Actress have not been won.

There are exceptions. The Austin Film Critic’s Association rewarded the film with wins in all five categories for which it was nominated, including Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress, and Best Film. Yet, most award results have paralleled those of the 2011 BAFTAs, in which the film was nominated for twelve awards, but lost in eleven categories, with the only contributor taking home the prize as Natalie Portman.
