Natalie Portman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt in explosive “Hesher” trailer

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: One of the film’s we’re eagerly anticipating at next month’s South By Southwest film festival is Spencer Susser’s “Hesher,” a drama about a long-haired loner who befriends a young kid and helps him through some emotional difficulties.

This one has been hanging around for some time now, having been nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival before slipping into limbo. I wonder why? The cast, alone, should have helped secure a distribution deal for “Hesher,” which casts the always watchable Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the explosive title character and Natalie Portman as a frumpy suburban girl swept up in his wake.

Check out the film’s full-length trailer here:

Rainn Wilson of “The Office” co-stars as a widowed father who isn’t there for his son (played by nerwcomer Devin Brochu). The cast also includes the great Piper Laurie and John Carroll Lynch.

IMDB says “Hesher” has an April 2011 release date, but we’ll bring you more on the film once we’re able to check it out in Austin.
