Tina Fey producing pitch by “SNL” pal

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: A Tina Fey recommendation is all we need to start getting excited about Paula Pell’s new comedic script, currently being optioned by Universal Pictures.

“Paula Pell is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met and I look forward to helping her turn into a real showbiz creep,” said Fey, who has agreed to produce (but not star in) Pell’s screenplay.

Pell wrote for “Saturday Night Live” back when Fey was a cast member. She has gone on to write episodes of “30 Rock,” and even appears as a recurring character named Paula Hornberger.

Details about the project are being kept under wraps, though THR reports that the pitch “will be based on Pell’s childhood diaries.”
