Elton John to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ in April

By Greg Hernandez

HollywoodNews.com: Why do I get the feeling there’s going to be a Billy Joel sketch in here somewhere?

It was announced at Elton John’s annual Oscar night bash that the singer and new father will be guest hosting NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ on April 2.

Elton has not appeared on ‘SNL’ since 1982 when he was the musical guest and performed the songs “Empty Garden” and “Ball and Chain.”

So much has happened since then! He married and divorced a woman, he got sober, he met David Furnish, he won a Tony and and an Oscar, he became a daddy and he’s raised millions and millions of dollars for AIDS research through his foundation.

The musical guest on ‘SNL’ will be Elton’s buddy Leon Russell with whom he did an album last year. So looks like we can count on some Elton music in addition to seeing him in some comedy sketches!
