Jennifer Lopez New Video is Number One

By Roger Friedman

HollywoodNews.com: The “American Idol” deal that Benny Medina made for Jennifer Lopez has paid off in buckets of gold. Lopez’s new highly auto-tuned single, “On the Floor,” which had a video debut on “Idol” this week, has hit number 1 on ITunes.

The music is produced by Red One, the same guy who’s made Lady GaGa a sensation. RedOne didn’t come cheap, but he was the right choice. Lopez’s music career had pretty much nosedived a couple of years ago with the single “Get Right” with its god awful off key horn sample from an unreleased Usher record. By 2009 she was singing about her shoes in “Louboutins.” Things looked bleak, and Columbia Records said goodbye. But all is changed now with her $12 million deal. Next, I guess, will be an album. More importantly, RedOne is also producing a new album right now for Lopez’s very talented husband, Marc Anthony. It will be his first English language record in 12 years.

I don’t ever understand your hate towards Jennifer Lopez. Every article that you write about her includes inaccuracies and the negativity. I know its fair for everyone to have their favorite celebrities and the ones they can’t stand, but why do you even bother reporting on her if you don’t like her — it obvious she’s not your favorite and you remain unprofessional to write an unbiased article.

Here are the inaccuracies of your article:

    1. “On the Floor” is not “highly auto-tuned” or even auto-tuned. Her viral song/video clip for “Good Hit” has auto-tune. Jennifer just started using auto-tune meanwhile other artists like Rihanna, Kesha, T-Pain have been using auto-tune for years. Are you getting your songs confused? Or did you not even LISTEN to “On the Floor???”

    2. ” RedOne didn’t come cheap, but he was the right choice. Lopez’s music career had pretty much nosedived a couple of years ago with the single “Get Right” with its god awful off key horn sample from an unreleased Usher record. By 2009 she was singing about her shoes in “Louboutins.”

RedOne is a hot producer like Timbaland, Neptunes, Rick Rubin, Tricky/Dream ETC. — NO PRODUCER COMES CHEAP, but you make it sound like you know she went bankrupt to gain a hit from RedOne, who has said several nice things about working with her. And even though you hate Get Right, it was an international hit even though it failed to hit the top 10 in the US, stalling at #12.

And despite the production given to Usher, please be aware that producers bring tracks to other artists ALL THE TIME. Its a part of the business. For someone that reviews Hollywood news, I would THINK YOU KNEW THIS…but you say it such negatively as if Jennifer is crazy.

    3. Jennifer wasn’t signed to Columbia Records. She was signed to Epic which is under the Sony umbrella. They decided to split. It was obvious that they weren’t supporting Jennifer and she wasn’t bringing i the sales with both the Rebirth and Brave album, then again, they weren’t promoting her and each album only had 2 singles even if the first singles did moderately well including “Get Right,” which you can’t stand.

Your writing in this article disgusts me. I saw it on another website and once I saw your name attached, I didn’t even want to read it. You give everyone credit for making the song a success — Benny and RedOne but you fail to give Jennifer any credit. HATE HER OR LOVE HER, she’s a natural born entertainer that has succeed in film, music, and overall business. Very few entertainers can say that. Jennifer was one of the first to do what Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, Britney, and Riahnna are doing with clothing/perfume and the cross over into movies.

I wasn’t going to respond to this article, but I figured you would find it amusing.

Dear Roger, life is short for negativity and wasting time. In the bigger picture of things, I don’t know how bad Jennifer Lopez has hurt your in your life, but please be sure to enjoy life without putting others down in the contrived manner in which you have written your article. If the point of the article is that she received a #1 hit on itunes and a #1 video, why fill it with such unnecessary and inaccurate facts?

Goodnight and good luck to you, sir!
