Steven Tyler doesn’t want ‘American Idol’ contestants singing his songs

HollywoodNews.com: In case any of the current contestants on ‘American Idol’ want to sing an Aerosmith song, they should probably think twice about going forward with it.

Steven Tyler admitted that he doesn’t think its a good idea for ‘AI’ contestants to take on his songs, states TMZ. “Never, I look at them twice and say don’t even try it, don’t even,” Tyler revealed.

But Tyler didn’t seem to care much in regard to contestants singing a Jennifer Lopez song as he asked, “Has anyone done that yet?”

Do you think a contestant should take a chance and sing Aerosmith?

Adam Lambert did 2 years ago and it was fantastic. I am starting to lose some respect for Steven now and he doesn’t seem to have anything useful to say. I’m enjoying Jennifer and Randy more now that it is Live.

It’s just my theory – singing a Steven Tyler song is your ticket home. Every contestant that has done it, has NOT won. Except for Adam Lambert – they actually went home after the show where they sang it. Someone may have a higher voice or a stronger voice – but no one can sing a Steven Tyler song better than Steven Tyler. Aerosmith songs are great BECAUSE Steven Tyler sings them!

It’s not a good idea because Steven Tyler is one of the judges. For that reason, contestants should avoid Jennifer Lopez’ songs as well. It will be hard for those two judges to be objective because they will have a certain idea of how their songs should sound. Of the two, Jennifer is probably the more open-minded one, but the contestants should respect the judges enough not to put them in that spot.
