Tom Hanks teases “Larry Crowne” trailer
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Tom Hanks’ “Larry Crowne” has to be one of the year’s most anticipated films, primarily because those of us who are huge fans of the actor’s spectacular directorial debut “The Thing You Do!” are anxious to see if the winning dra-medy was a one-hit wonder (wink wink) or the start of a promising career behind the camera.
Today, we get our first glance at the full “Larry” trailer. It’s over on Yahoo Movies.
Hanks plays the title role, a middle-aged man who must reinvent himself after losing his job. He takes a class at the local community college (instructed by Julia Roberts, of all people) and maybe, just maybe, has the hots for teacher.
In Hanks we trust, right? Especially after “That Thing,” which was so winning. The Hanks-Roberts pairing looks promising (and yes, I did like them in “Charlie Wilson’s War).
“Larry Crowne” opens on July 1. Time will tell if it’s swallowed in a sea of blockbusters, or if it turns out to be the island oasis smart filmgoers are looking for in the summer season.
