Dane Cook, Julia Stiles Broadway play delayed

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: When we spoke with Dane Cook at SXSW about his latest film project, “Detention,” the comedian mentioned that he planned on finishing out the year with a scheduled stint on a Broadway show and then several months of writing for a new book he’d publish sometime in 2012.

The book may leap to the top of Cook’s to-do list.

That’s because the Broadway show, “Fat Pig,” is being delayed a year. THR reports that investors “unexpectedly pulled out,” forcing producers to put the project on the shelf for the time being.

“The postponement is due to the last-minute fallout of a key investment,” the production company, The Hartman Group, said in a statement. “This did not leave the producers enough time to reacquire the necessary capital and begin rehearsals on schedule to open prior to the Tony Awards cutoff date.”

Cook was set to star alongside Josh Hamilton, Julie Stiles and Heather Jane Rolff. The show now will premiere in spring 2012 at the Belsaco Theatre, according to THR.
