Kevin Costner confirmed as Superman’s dad

Hollywoodnews.com: Zack Snyder recently mentioned that more casting news would be coming down the pipe for his new Superman film. This morning, we learn that Kevin Costner has been confirmed for the role of Jonathan Kent in the upcoming blockbuster. He’ll join the previously cast Diane Lane (as Ma Kent) and Henry Cavill, who will play the Man of Steel.

From Warner’s press release:
“Jonathan Kent is the only father figure Clark has ever had, the man who was there to help Clark understand what he was meant to do in the world as Superman,” Snyder said. “Kevin will be able to communicate the quiet strength of this rural American man who raised the greatest super hero of all time.”

The new Superman movie will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures in 2012.
