Elizabeth Taylor passes away in L.A.

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: The glow surrounding Hollywood shines a little less bright this morning.

It is being reported that Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor died today at Cedar-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles at the age of 79.

A statement from her publicist confirmed that the two-time Academy Award winner died “peacefully” after being treated for congestive heart failure, “a condition with which she had struggled for many years.”

“Though she had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home,” the statement continued. “Sadly, this was not to be.”

Taylor was an industry legend, branching her talents into multiple fields including acting, modeling and, later, humanitarian efforts. But she’ll be remembered for her celebrity. At a time when access to Hollywood elite was protected, Taylor shone brighter than almost any star.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.
