‘Housewives of NYC’ star, husband speak out for marriage equality

HollywoodNews.com: Although ‘Real Housewives of New York City’ doesn’t often touch on political issues, it sounds like the next season will show one star and her husband working on behalf of marriage equality.

Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen will make it clear on the newest season that they want marriage equality for all, states the Village Voice. “This is a cause that we feel passionate about. The number one thing is it’s not fair!” McCord said about gay marriage not being allowed everywhere.

And van Kempen feels the same way, claiming that there is little equality: “I came to the states almost 10 years ago for a three-week business trip. I met Alex. Fortunately for me, the Alex I met was Alexandra, not Alexander. I moved to the states and eventually got my U.S. citizenship. But if it was Alexander, our love would have been screwed.”
