Captain America behind-the-scenes shots hit Web

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: As Paramount teased footage for Joe Johnston’s upcoming “Captain America: The First Avenger” at Las Vegas’s CinemaCon, the studio also released official photos that showed the film’s heroes in action … as well as some behind-the-scenes goodness.

Chris Evans will star in the film as Steve Rogers, a patriotic weakling deemed unfit for combat who agrees to participate in an experimental program that enhances his strength and skills. The CGI trickery used to reduce Evans’ stature was the highlight of a recent trailer. But now I’m digging this shot of costumed Cap, ready to kick some butt.

We also get a freeze frame of Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter in action, firing pistols as an explosion rocks a nearby automobile. This one gives us a great glance at Johnston’s period feel for the World War II-era adventure film.

And the last two shots, seen for the first time, go behind the scenes to show us Atwell in battle and Evans in the lab on the day he gets his infamous shot.

Reportedly the Cap footage mirrored most of what was shown in the recent trailer, which we’ll post below.

“Captain America” reaches theaters on July 22.
