Johnny Depp, Tim Burton grab Disney “Prom” teen

By Sean O’Connell Looking very much like a young Johnny Depp could be good for Thomas McDonnell’s career.

It already helped the young actor secure a gig working on Tim Burton and Depp’s next collaboration, “Dark Shadows,” THR reports. McDonnell will play “Depp’s younger self” once the feature-film adaptation of the 1960s vampire soap opera begins filming in April.

The story goes on to clarify that Depp “will portray Barnabas Collins, a self-loathing vampire living in a Maine manor who is searching for his lost love.” So far, Burton has cast Michelle Pfeiffer, Jackie Earle Haley, Eva Green and Bella Heathcote.

McDonnell, meanwhile, will be seen as part of the ensemble for Walt Disney’s teen film “Prom,” which opens on April 29.
