Ronaldo, George Clooney could testify in sex trial

By Sean O’Connell

George Clooney, who has a home on Lake Como near Berlusconi’s Arcore villa, and global soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo could both testify, a lawyer said to AFP on Tuesday. Clooney’s girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis, also is one of the 78 witnesses included on a list submitted to the courts.

“We have proposed George Clooney as a witness,” the lawyer said, according to the NY Post. “Ruby says both Clooney and Canalis were at a party at Arcore.”

The “Ruby” is question is “Ruby the Heart Stealer,” the stage name for pole dancer Karima El Mahroug, who is alleging that Berlusconi paid her to have sex with him at one of his parties. She was only 17, though.

“The voluptuous dark-haired dancer also says she knows Ronaldo,” the Post adds. “She told investigating judges she had sex with the Real Madrid forward after meeting him in a Milan nightclub in January 2010. [But] Ronaldo has denied ever meeting Ruby.”

Berlusconi, 74, also is accused of abusing his political powers by asking police to release Ruby from jail after she was arrested for suspected theft in May.
