Britney Spears’ interview request angers Carson Daly?

Hollywoodnews.com: When is a live interview not a live interview? Probably when it’s taped in advance and pre-approved by the talent.

Too bad Carson Daly didn’t know that’s what he was going to get when he signed up for a live interview with Britney Spears on behalf of her new album. When he was told he’d have to pre-tape his piece with Spears and allow the 29-year-old to approve anything that went out over the air, Daly – who has known the singer since her earliest professional days – took to Twitter to vent.

Maybe that wasn’t the best idea.

According to EW.com, Daly Tweeted:

I was jst TOLD my @britneyspears interview tomm on @ampradio MUST b pre-recorded & submitted 4 approval by HER mgmt b4 it can air! F THAT!”

never that restricted. Even when I interviewed Michael Jackson, it wasn’t anything like this…it’s really insane.

When a Twitter follower called him unprofessional, Daly lashed out, writing. “I’M UNPROFESSIONAL? FAKING AN ENTIRE INTERVIEW? jst shocked her mgmt won’t let her do a normal interview. She probly doesn’t even know.”

Does she? You have to wonder. I doubt anything that deals with Britney doesn’t go through Britney, to some degree. Still Daly was quick to deflect blame away from Brit-Brit, perhaps in an effort to salvage his spot.

“I’ve known and supported her since she was 15. This has nothing to do w her. Just her ppl,” he Tweeted.

In fact, Daly might have felt so apologetic that he took down the Tweets … because they’re not on his page any longer. Kudos to EW for noticing them as they went up. And shame on Britney for manipulating the press, if that’s what happened.
