Harry Potter DVD release party on MTV

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: We have to dive into some DVD news, as a handful of major titles are reaching the home-video market with splashy promotions tied to their releases.

Let’s start with MTV’s plans to live stream a celebration honoring the DVD release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One.”

Several “Harry Potter” cast members plan to attend the event, scheduled for Monday, April 4, at 7 p.m. ET. Host Josh Horowitz will interview cast members Sir Michael Gambon, Robbie Coltrane, Helen McCrory, Bonnie Wright and more; talk with “Potter” fans; tease exclusive footage from the film; and preview “Harry Potter: The Exhibition” at the Discovery Times Square building in New York City.

It will be a big, splashy, interactive, red-carpet event for “Potter” fans getting ready for the DVD’s release, which is set for Friday, April 15. For more details on MTV’s planned party, click here.
