Simon Fuller to manage ‘American Idol’ Top 2

Daughtry and Simon Fuller

HollywoodNews.com: Simon Fuller, the creative force behind ‘American Idol,’ will manage the careers of this season’s Top 2 finalists according to Interscope Geffen A&M Records.

Fuller has been personally involved in the careers of some of the most successful ‘Idol’ alumni: winners Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, and David Cook, as well as season 5 contestant Chris Daughtry. Fuller also personally managed ‘American Idol’ season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert.

In the press release, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records (and season 10 mentor) Jimmy Iovine, had this to say about Fuller:

“Simon Fuller is the rare breed who can effect popular culture both in America and in Europe. He has brought us a platform for music like nothing before it in American Idol. The opportunity for this year’s winner and runner-up to be managed by someone of his caliber along with UMG’s commitment to these artists and show is incomparable.”

Fuller sold his company, 19 Entertainment, to CKX, Inc. in 2005. Last year, Fuller started XIX Entertainment which according to the Financial Times is worth $100M.

Simon Fuller manages the careers of David and Victoria Beckham and Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton in addition to his other endeavors. XIX Entertainment is focuses on talent and brand management.

If Durbin wins I could see him easily outselling Cook. Durbin is a real rocker where as Cook is Rocker lite. I could see Haley and Lauren selling a lot of CD’s too. I could see either one being really marketable.

Cook is not rocker lite…at least not in his pre-idol albums (Axium and Analog Heart) nor when you see him in concert. He rocks it as hard if not harder than James does. James is one of my favorites from this year, but it is very doubtful he would outsell Cook. They said that about Adam Lambert and he hasn’t outsold Cook either.

Cook just announced the release of the 1st Single off his 2nd Major Studio Album on Twitter…Check it out or go to DavidCookOfficial.com He will be on Idol April 21st after the single debuts on April 19th.

I think the winner will be between Pia and Scotty, with Lauren and James vying for 3rd and 4th. James is going to get old real quick because he isn’t showing any growth in his vocals and he is showing himself to be extremely cocky. If Jimmy Iovine is calling you out for being cocky.. you got a situation. lol.
