James Franco talks Oscar flub with David Letterman

By Sean O’Connell What do James Franco and David Letterman have in common?

Outside of being cogs (albeit very different cogs) in the sprawling entertainment machine, both Franco and Letterman received mixed reviews for their Oscar-hosting gigs. Letterman looked uncomfortable in a West Coast setting, while Franco looked stoned.

The Oscar nominee, who was up for a Best Actor trophy for “127 Hours,” will be on Letterman’s talk show Friday night to discuss his controversial Oscar turn, so be sure to tune in or set your DVR. In a preview clip (posted below), Franco says that he has thought about why people considered him to be under the influence, and he deflects some of the blame to his co-host, Anne Hathaway.

“I love her. But Anne Hathaway is so energetic, I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to Anne Hathaway,” Franco jokes. “She has a lot of energy!”

He elaborates in this clip. I hope Dave digs even deeper tonight. I’m really looking forward to this:

Franco, meanwhile, will be in “Your Highness,” which opens Friday, April 8.
