Was the “Breaking Dawn” photo leak a hoax?

Twilight Saga

By Kim Palacios

hollywoodnews.com: A funny thing happened during this week’s “Breaking Dawn” photo debacle: the pictures re-energized fans. This effect—that of reviving interest among a large, but harshly critical, sub-group begs the question: was the photo leak a hoax?

“Breaking Dawn” is the book that many Twi-hards love to hate, with even those who want to like it doubting the film. One of the most anticipated scenes will be the sex scene between Edward and Bella; yet, the promise of what was to come lost some of its luster when producers confirmed that the film’s rating would be no higher than PG-13.

Enter the leaked photos. Though one featured a golden-eyed vampire Bella almost all the other ones showed Bella and Edward doing things that did not look PG-13. A naked Edward atop a naked Bella, gripping the headboard of the bed; Bella sitting astride a reclined Edward, both of them scantily clad; a soaking wet pair kissing in the water; in many of the photos it is implied that they are naked under covers.

So, could this all be part of the plan? Did Summit leak these photos as a ploy to draw in fans looking for reassurance that love scenes would not be glossed over? Were they a teaser to tide us over until the release of the film? More importantly, will frames shown within the photos even make the final cut? Some of those questions will never be answered—others will reveal themselves in time. For now, one thing’s for sure: some fans have regained interest in the film.
