Ben Affleck’s schedule could keep him out of Baz’s “Great Gatsby”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Baz Luhrmann continues to assemble an all-star ensemble for his adaptation of “The Great Gatsby,” currently in pre-production.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan already have been cast in Luhrmann’s pic. Reports out this morning now say the director is trying to lure actor-director Ben Affleck for a key role.

“Affleck is interested in tackling the role of Buchanan except there’s a hitch: scheduling,” THR reports.

The actor’s currently lined up to direct and possibly star in the political thriller “Argo,” which would shoot in September. Luhrmann, meanwhile, wants to begin lensing “Gatsby” in August.

According to THR, both sides “are trying to see if the dates can be worked out.”
