hollywoodnews.com: Two time Emmy Nominee Kristen Wiig has finally been recognized with an award for her work on “Saturday Night Live.” At the 2011 Comedy Central Comedy Awards, Wiig was honored as Best Comedic Television Actress for the show’s most recent season.

Wiig was nominated in both 2009 and 2010 in the Emmy Awards as Best Actress in a Supporting Role (“Saturday Night Live”). The ensemble cast of a 2009 film in which Wiig played, “Adventureland,” was nominated for a Gotham Award in the year of its release, which it did not win. The Comedy Central award represents a first win for Wiig, who is considered one of the strongest women actors in SNL history, and certainly the strongest in recent memory. Congratulations to Ms. Wiig, and best wishes for continued success.
