Jon Favreau: “Cowboys” trailer on Thursday’s “American Idol”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Jon Favreau has been teasing “Cowboys & Aliens” for some time now — bringing snippets to Austin, inviting select few journalists to his editing bay, and screening nearly 40 minutes to lucky press members.

The rest of us, to be honest, would rather see the whole film, but that doesn’t happen until July.

But Favreau, a social media maven, announced on Twitter this afternoon that the full trailer for “Cowboys” will air this Thursday before making its way to the Internet.

“The full 2 1/2 min trailer for Cowboys & Aliens will premiere on American Idol Thurs nite (and then posted on Apple),” Favreau tweeted.

An “idol” spot is great exposure for a summer blockbuster that doesn’t have the name recognition of a “Transformers” or Marvel property. For thos not in the know, “Cowboys” stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford and old west wranglers who encounter extraterrestrial beings.

We’ll post the trailer Thursday once it goes live. “Cowboys & Aliens” finally reaches theaters on July 29.
