‘American Idol’ tackles movie night – how did it go?

HollywoodNews.com: Last night on ‘American Idol,’ contestants sang songs from movies, and it seems it was something most of them were able to handle quite well.

Lauren Alaina performed Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” and really won over the judges, states RadarOnline.com. “I love the tear you have in your voice… it’s a cry… it’s something that really transmits… you don’t need to steal anybody’s votes. You’re getting your own,” Jennifer Lopez said.

Casey Abrams chose to perform Nat King Cole’s “Nature Boy” and Randy Jackson thought it was right on: “I thought it was genius.” Abrams also received a standing ovation after the performance.

Unfortunately, Haley Reinhart’s performance of Blondie’s “Call Me” was not a hit with Lopez who said “it wasn’t the best.”

Who do you think will go home this week?

I can’t believe how lame Paul’s performance last night (4/13) was until the hot blonde sax player joined in and brought him in under her sparkle. People, that very professional performer was Mindi Abair and, in addition to top sales on her 4+, albums, she has written a book that includes “how to play to an audience”. It’s obvious she knows what she is talking about, because she has also played with the likes of Duran, Duran and Back Street Boys. Kudos to American Idol for inviting her to perform but shame on Ryan Seacrest for not mentioning her name!

I was watching American Idol last night. Im wondering why they didnt say who the sax player for Paul McDonald was? She is a great sax player named Mindi Abair. I am hoping on tonights show they will mention her name. If you ever get a chance to catch one of Mindi’s concerts you will not be dissapointed. She is a very nice down to earth performer!!

I’m hoping America doesn’t dial in for either Jennifer Lopez or Steven Tyler for American Idol next year. They are both Paula Abdul clones and have even turned Randy into a soft touch. Bring back Simon or some semblance of his type. Judges have been worthless for any guidance. They love all the performers and then they really screwed up when they wasted their wild card on Casey. That alone should get ALL the judges removed.
