Michael Douglas giving back to cancer hospital

By Sean O’Connell Montreal’s Jewish General Hospital caught something that everybody else missed, and for that, Michael Douglas would like to say thanks.

But he’s doing it in his own unique way.

Next month, the Oscar winner will host a $375-a-plate fund-raiser for the hospital that diagnosed Douglas with throat cancer.

The even will be held on May 3 at Le Windsor in downtown Montreal, Canadian newswires are reporting Tuesday morning (via THR).

“That’s where he found out he had his cancer,” said Allen Burry, Douglas’ publicist.

“It was his very gracious offer to help us in view of his own battle with throat cancer,” Dr. Saul Frenkiel told the Canadian news agency.

THR reports that one of the items being auctioned at the gala will be a round of golf with Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones on a course near their vacation home in Montreal.
