Rebecca Black receives death threats, police investigate

By Sean O’Connell For all of those eager to become the next viral celebrity, be warned that popularity comes with a nasty price.

Just ask 13-year-old Rebecca Black, who reportedly received two death threats that were serious enough to warrant a police investigation.

According to Anaheim Police spokesman Rick Martinez, “the threats were related to getting the [singer’s song ‘Friday’] off the internet or they were going to kill her,” Rolling Stone reported.

Martinez said Black might not have been in direct danger, but the threats – which were made through the singer’s production and management companies – needed to be investigated.
