Harry Potter DVD and Blu-ray burning up charts

By Sean O’Connell Perhaps hinting to the dominance that’s sure to come later this summer, “Harry Potter” is pummeling the competition on the DVD charts now that “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” is on the streets.

The film made its debut at No. 1 on the charts, beating out “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” for the top slot.

Even more impressive, though, is the fact that six other “Harry Potter” titles “also re-emerged in the top 20, the result of an aggressive ad campaign,” Reuters reports.

“About 70 percent of Potter catalog sales were of the Blu-ray format vs. 46 percent for ‘Deathly Hallows,’” Reuters adds, explaining that many fans are upgrading their collection to Blu-ray as they take advantage of some incredible deals.

Wait until “Part 2” finally comes out, and then Warner can release a complete collection. How do you think that will sell?
