Jennifer Lopez, “Idol” creator shopping rival singing show

Hollywoodnews.com: One day after we reported that Jennifer Lopez was unsure about doing another season of “American Idol,” and that she was taking it day by day when it comes to the reality singing competition juggernaut, a story is breaking explaining what Lopez might have on her plate post-“Idol.”

The singer-actress reportedly is joining forces with “Idol” creator Simon Fuller on a separate show that would search for unknown talents in Latin America, THR reports.

The new program would team Lopez with her husband, Marc Anthony. It’s tentatively titled “Que Viva,” and is being shopped around to every network.

“Lopez has been developing the project for some time,” THR notes, “[and] Fuller addressed the idea of teaming with her on the competition around the time that Simon Cowell approached Lopez about joining ‘X Factor,’ [but] she turned down the offer in favor of Idol.”

As for “Idol,” Lopez only signed a one-season contract. Watching this season, it appeared that Lopez would stick around, while I was willing to bet Steven Tyler was ready to bolt back to the rock-and-roll road. We’ll see how this plays out.
