Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling may go “Gangster” for Warner

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: It once was considered a project Ben Affleck might direct. Now “Gangster Squad” is attempting to lure three equally powerful male actors, and we’ll wait to see who bites.
Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin “all have offers to star” in the period crime drama, which is based on a series of newspaper articles written for the Los Angeles Times, THR reports.
Will Beall will pen a script for “Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer to helm. From what we’re hearing, the project is a cross between “L.A. Confidential,” “Heat” and the soon-to-be-released story-driven video game, “L.A. Noir.”
Not sure if the script has room for all three men, or if one of the three needs to commit. But we’ll keep you posted as this intriguing project proceeds.
