Katie Couric’s CBS successor named after Royal Wedding?

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Katie Couric’s departure from the “CBS Evening News” has all but been confirmed, but she’ll have one last major assignment before the network names her successor.

She’ll be covering the Royal Wedding.

After five years on the air, Couric is expected to announce at some point this week that she’s leaving the new program (possibly for a daytime syndicated talker), with her successor being named sometime next week, the NY Times reports.

“The meticulously arranged exit plan was described by four people with knowledge of it, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because it was not supposed to be revealed before the formal announcement,” the paper reports.

The report does not go on to speculate who might replace Couric in the anchor chair.
