Lady Gaga bringing “Judas” to “American Idol”
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: It seems a little sacrilegious to be talking about Judas the day after Easter Sunday, but such is the way of Lady Gaga.
It is being reported that the pop sensation will debut her “Judas” video on “American Idol” the week of May 2.
Interscope Promotion broke the news via Twitter, tweeting:
“#judas video @ladygaga will premiere the week of may 2nd on @AmericanIdol …more specific coming soon.”
Laurieann Gibson, who directed the video for Gaga, told MTV, “It’s a phenomenal video: really powerful, really impactful. … “I’m Christian, and my career is evidence of God in my life. And I think that most people are already thinking that Gaga and the blasphemy and they’re premeditating the approach, and I think they’ll be very shocked to find out how huge and really groundbreaking the message is and how freeing the message is for all the right reasons. And it’s really going to shock the world.”
Gaga will play Mary Magdalene in the video, with Norman Reedus assuming the role of Judas.
MTV notes that if you don’t want to wait for “Judas” on “American Idol,” the singer will perform it on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Wednesday.
