“Doctor Who” breaks BBC America records

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: The “Doctor” is in … and millions of patients are eager to see him.

Saturday night’s premiere of the latest season of “Doctor Who” drew 1.2 million viewers, making the episode the highest-rated program in BBC America’s history.

That wasn’t the show’s only win. HitFix elaborates that strong promotion and a day-and-date premiere in the UK led to “Doctor Who” ranking as “the top TV series on the iTunes store, [with] Saturday ranking as the largest-ever traffic day for BBCAmerica.com.”

Now we’ll see if “Who” can continue to draw those numbers as the season progresses.
